Plumber in Christie, OK
Christie is in Adair County, not Cherokee County — a point worth getting right, because it decides which courthouse, which school district and which utilities you deal with. It is our longest regular run: about 23 miles east of the shop, roughly 33 minutes.

A plumber who crosses the county line for Christie
Our home county is Cherokee, and we cross into Adair County for Christie because somebody has to. The county seat over there is Stilwell, the country is Ozark Plateau hills and hollows, and a lot of the addresses are county road numbers rather than streets. Give Dustin the road and a landmark and he will get there.
You get the same deal you would get in town: the job quoted before we start, and the number we say is the number you pay, even if the work runs long or hits a surprise. No hourly meter. If Dustin has to come look before he can price it, that visit carries a trip charge and you hear the figure first. Oklahoma plumbing license OK203156.
Calls are answered 7 AM to 5 PM and we are not a 24-hour company. If water is running now, shut it off at the meter or switch off the well pump. If you smell gas, get out of the building and call 911 or your gas supplier from outside first.
Christie's housing is the newest of anywhere we work — the median home dates to about 2006 — and the community nearly doubled between 2010 and 2020. Newer houses do not mean no plumbing problems; they mean different ones. Plastic supply stops that will not close, crimped PEX behind a wall, a slab with a hot-water line running through it, and builder-grade water heaters all reaching the end of their service life in the same few years.
There are only about 130 housing units here, spread over hill country, so most places have their own well and their own septic system. Wells on the Ozark plateau bring hardness and iron more often than not: scale on shower heads, orange staining in toilet tanks, spotting on dishes, and water heaters that scale up early and run short of hot water. Treatment inside the house works, but only when it is matched to a test rather than to a brochure.
Because these are hill lots, water lines run long and sometimes shallow over rock, and that is where winter finds them. We insulate and re-route what is ours: the line from where it reaches the house, and the plumbing inside. If the freeze is out at the well equipment, that is a licensed pump installer's job, because Oklahoma licenses well and pump work separately from plumbing.

Straight about our hours
We are not a 24-hour company
We work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and turn up when we say. If something goes wrong after hours, do this first:
Water where it shouldn't be
Shut off the main valve. Once the water is off, it can wait for a proper repair.
You smell gas
Leave the house. From outside, call 911 and your gas company.
Sewage coming up a drain
Stop running water: no flushing, no laundry. Then call us.

You are a Tahlequah plumber. Will you really come to Christie in Adair County?
Yes. It is about 23 miles and half an hour east of the shop, over the county line. Our license is a state license, so working in Adair County is no different for us than working in Cherokee County. Ask for a price on the phone and it costs nothing. A drive out to look at the job first carries a trip charge, and you hear it before he leaves.
Our well water leaves scale and orange stains. What actually fixes that?
Two different problems with two different answers. Scale and spotting are hardness, which a properly sized softener handles. Orange staining is iron, which needs iron treatment rather than a softener alone. A test tells us which you have and how much, and we would rather test than sell you a tank that does not match your water.
What does it cost to have you out this far?
Describe it to Dustin, or text him a photo, and that estimate is free. If he has to see it before he can price it, there is a trip charge and you are told the amount before he drives out. Say yes to the job and the price is flat, quoted before we start, with no hourly billing.
Do we need a permit for plumbing work out here?
There is usually no local plumbing inspector in rural Adair County. In that situation Oklahoma expects the licensed plumber to notify the Construction Industries Board that the work was done without a local permit, and we do that. If you are inside a town that does inspect, we tell you before the work starts.
