A Tahlequah plumber, not a call center
When you call (918) 822-7918 you reach Dustin, here in town. Nobody reads you a script, nobody takes your address and passes it to a branch in another state. You describe the problem, he asks the questions a plumber needs to ask, and he tells you what he thinks is going on before he ever drives over.
We quote the job before we start. The number we say is the number you pay — even if the job runs long or hits a surprise. No hourly meter, no guessing. If we open a wall and the pipe is worse than it looked, that is our problem, not a new invoice.
We answer the phone from 7 AM to 5 PM. We are not a 24-hour company and we will not pretend to be one. If water is running where it should not be, go shut the main valve off — usually at the meter box out front — and then call us. If you smell gas, get everyone out of the house first, then call 911 or your gas utility from outside, and call us afterward for the repair.
Most of what we do in town is ordinary: a water heater that quit, a drain that backs up into the tub, a toilet that runs all night, a line that broke under a pier-and-beam floor. We come prepared, with the right parts on the truck, and we respect your time.
Inside the city you are on Tahlequah PWA water, and that water starts as surface water — the Illinois River and Lake Tenkiller — so it is filtered and chlorinated before it reaches your meter. Treated river and lake water is the reason so many people in town ask us about a chlorine taste, about a filter at the kitchen sink, or about a whole-home system. It is also why sediment shows up in aerators and shower cartridges after a main break.
The median house in the city was built around 1988, but plenty of Tahlequah houses are much older than that, and age decides what breaks. Older homes still have galvanized water pipe that closes up with rust until the shower pressure dies, cast-iron drains that scale and catch paper, and closet flanges that rust away under the toilet. Newer additions bolted onto older houses give us the other half of the work: two different pipe materials joined badly, a vent that was never run, a drain with no fall.
Almost six in ten occupied homes in Tahlequah are rented. That means a lot of our calls come from landlords and property managers between tenants, and a lot come from tenants who are standing in a wet bathroom. We will tell you plainly which is which: if you rent, the owner has to authorize the work, and we are happy to talk to them directly so nothing gets lost between three phone calls.
The city requires a permit and an inspection before new plumbing or gas work goes in. Clearing a stoppage, or simply stopping a leak, does not need one. We follow that line honestly — when your job needs a permit, we say so up front and pull it, instead of hiding the work behind a wall and hoping nobody looks.
Winter is the other thing. Water heaters in unheated garages and hose bibs on the north side of a house are what freeze first here, along with pipes in the crawl space of an older home with open skirting. A foam cover and a closed crawl-space vent are cheap. A split copper line inside a wall is not.

Straight about our hours
We are not a 24-hour company
We work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and turn up when we say. If something goes wrong after hours, do this first:
Water where it shouldn't be
Shut off the main valve. Once the water is off, it can wait for a proper repair.
You smell gas
Leave the house. From outside, call 911 and your gas company.
Sewage coming up a drain
Stop running water: no flushing, no laundry. Then call us.

Tahlequah plumbing questions
Not answered here? Call or text Dustin at (918) 822-7918.
Do you work inside the Tahlequah city limits?
Yes. The shop is on East South Street, so city work is our shortest drive of the day. We work the whole city and out into Cherokee County from here.
Does my plumbing job in Tahlequah need a permit?
New or replaced plumbing and gas piping does. The city says clearing a stoppage or stopping a leak does not, and that pulling out a toilet and setting it back does not either, as long as no piping is rearranged. If your job crosses that line, Dustin tells you before the work starts and handles the permit.
What does a plumber cost in Tahlequah?
We quote a flat price for your job before we start, and that price holds. We cannot put a number on a web page honestly, because the price depends on what the job actually is — how the pipe is run, what has to come apart to reach it, what parts your fixture takes. Describe the problem on the phone and Dustin will tell you what it takes to find out and what the fix runs.
Do you come out at night in Tahlequah?
No. Calls are answered 7 AM to 5 PM, and we would rather tell you that than advertise 24 hours and leave you on hold. Right now: shut the main valve off if water is running, or if you smell gas, get out and call 911 or the gas utility from outside. Then call us and you will be on the list for real working hours.
I rent my house in Tahlequah. Can I call you myself?
You can call and describe the problem, and we will tell you what we think it is. The owner or the property manager has to approve the work and pay for it, so we will ask for their name and number. If you give us permission, Dustin will call them so you are not stuck relaying plumbing talk.
Why does my city water taste like chlorine?
Tahlequah's water comes from the Illinois River and Lake Tenkiller, so it has to be disinfected before it is piped to you. That is a taste question, not a safety one. A carbon filter at the kitchen sink or a whole-home filter handles it, and we will tell you which one actually fits what bothers you.
