Our approach
Clearing the drain is half the job
Anybody can push a cable down a line until the water goes. The part that saves you money is knowing why it clogged: grease, roots, a sag in the pipe, a belly under a manufactured home, or paper that never had enough fall to move.
So we quote the job before we start, hold that price, and then tell you straight what came out and whether we expect it back. If the honest answer is "this line will clog again until it is repaired", you will hear that instead of a service plan.
We also try to get the unglamorous part right. We answer the phone during our hours, we tell you when we can be there, and if that time slips you hear it from us before you have to ask. The invoice says the same number we quoted.

More about drain cleaning
Kitchen sinks and garbage disposals
The most common call we get. Kitchen lines fill with grease and food film that narrows the pipe a little at a time, which is why a sink that drained fine for years starts backing up in a week.
Tubs, showers and bathroom sinks
Hair and soap in the trap or trap arm, usually within a few feet of the drain. We pull and clean the trap where that is the fix, rather than cabling a line that never needed it.
Toilets and main line stoppages
If the toilet is the lowest fixture in the house, it is where a main-line backup shows up first. We work from a cleanout where there is one, and we tell you where a cleanout ought to be installed if there is not.
Laundry standpipes and floor drains
A washer dumps a lot of water fast. Standpipes that only overflow on wash day are usually partly blocked, or vented badly, and the difference matters.
Lines that cannot drain by gravity
Some sinks, basement fixtures and additions sit too low to fall to the sewer, so they run through an ejector pump. When one of those quits, the fixture backs up and the pump is the problem, not the drain.
Drains at a rental or a lake cabin
A place that sits empty for weeks has its own problems: traps dry out and let sewer gas in, and the first heavy use of the season finds the blockage that built up last year.
Another fixture gurgles when this one drains
A gurgle means air is being pulled through water somewhere else. That points at a shared line or a vent, not at the fixture you are standing over.
More than one drain is slow
One slow drain is a local clog. Two or three, especially on different sides of the house, means the problem is downstream in the main line.
The toilet bubbles when the washer drains
The washer pushes more water than anything else in the house. If the toilet answers back, the main line cannot take the flow.
You can smell sewer inside
That is either a dry trap, a failed wax ring, or a vent problem. All three are fixable, and none of them are helped by more chemical cleaner.
Cherokee County has a lot of older pipe underground. The census counts 7,926 of the county's 22,363 housing units as built in 1979 or earlier, and drain lines from that era are often cast iron inside the house and clay or thin-wall pipe out to the street. Cast iron rusts rough on the inside and catches everything that passes. Clay joints move and let roots in.
Roots are a real problem here, not a scare story. This is oak and hickory country on thin, chert-filled Ozark soil, so tree roots run shallow and wide, hunting the easiest water they can find. A joint in a sewer line that leaks a little is the easiest water on the property.
Then there is what is at the other end of the line. Inside the city you drain to Tahlequah's sewer. Outside the city limits you are almost certainly on a septic system permitted by Oklahoma DEQ — Oklahoma State University extension work found 59% of single detached houses built in Oklahoma since 2002 use septic, against about 20% nationally — and septic changes the diagnosis completely. When every drain in a rural house slows at once, the tank or the lateral field is the first thing to check, not the pipe under the kitchen sink. Cabling that line would only move the problem an hour down the road.

We find the right access point
A cleanout, a roof vent, a pulled toilet or the fixture trap. Picking the right one is what keeps the work clean and the price down, and it is the first thing we look for.
- 2
You get the price before the cable goes in
One flat number for clearing that line. If the access we need does not exist, or the toilet has to come up, you hear that as part of the quote and not as an extra afterwards.
- 3
We clear it and test it with real water
Not a trickle. We fill the fixture and let it go, run the washer if that was the symptom, and watch the line take it.
- 4
We tell you what came out
Grease, roots, wipes, or a piece of a toy. What comes out of the line decides what we suggest next, and whether we expect to see you again.
- Stop using water on that side of the house. Every flush and every load adds to what is already sitting in the line.
- Do not pour in more chemical drain cleaner. It rarely clears a full blockage, it sits in the trap, and it can burn whoever opens the line next. If you already used some, please tell us so we can protect ourselves.
- A plunger on a sink works better if you block the second bowl and the overflow first.
- Bail standing water out of the sink or tub if you can, and clear everything out from under the cabinet.
- If waste is backing up onto the floor, shut off the washer and the dishwasher and keep everyone out of that room until we get there.
- Our phone hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, and we are not a 24-hour company. If the main line is backing up tonight, stop using water and call us first thing.
Some lines clog because of what went down them. Those are worth clearing, and they stay clear for a long time afterwards.
Other lines clog because the pipe itself is the problem: a root-filled clay joint, a belly that holds water, a section of cast iron that has rusted down to a slot. Clearing one of those buys you a few months. If that is what we find, we will say so plainly and talk about sewer line repair instead of selling you the same visit twice a year.
One flat price per line, quoted before the cable goes in, and it holds even if the blockage is further out than we expected. No hourly meter.
Clearing a stoppage does not need a City of Tahlequah plumbing permit, so there is no permit cost on a straight drain cleaning call. If the fix turns into replacing pipe, that is different work, and we price and permit it as its own job.
What changes the price
- Which line it is: a fixture trap, a branch, or the main line out of the house
- Whether the property has a usable cleanout, or we have to pull a toilet to get in
- What is in the line — grease and soap come out faster than roots
- How far out the blockage sits
- Whether the drain runs to city sewer or to a septic system
- Whether the fixture drains through an ejector pump that also needs attention

How much does drain cleaning cost in Tahlequah?
We give you one flat price for the line before any work starts, and that price does not change if the clog turns out to be stubborn. The things that move the number are which line it is, whether there is a cleanout we can use, and what is actually in the pipe. Text or call (918) 822-7918, tell us which fixtures are slow, and we will tell you what it takes.
Will liquid drain cleaner fix a clogged drain?
Sometimes on a partly clogged bathroom sink. Rarely on anything else. On a fully blocked line the chemical just sits in the trap, and it does not touch roots or grease further out. It also makes the job hazardous for whoever opens the pipe, so if you have poured any in, tell us before we start.
Why are all the drains in my house slow at the same time?
Because the problem is downstream of all of them. On city sewer that is a main-line blockage between the house and the street. On a septic system it is often the tank being full or the lateral field not accepting water. Those two need different work, so the first question we ask is whether you are on city sewer or septic.
Do you pump septic tanks?
We clear and repair the drain lines that feed the tank, and we will tell you honestly when the tank itself is the problem rather than the pipe. Tank pumping and new septic installation are separate trades regulated by Oklahoma DEQ. Call and describe what you are seeing, and Dustin will tell you which one you need.
How often should drains be cleaned?
A healthy drain does not need a schedule. If a line needs clearing every year, something is wrong with the pipe, the fall, or the way it is being used — and that is worth diagnosing once instead of paying for the same visit forever. A busy kitchen line or a restaurant is the exception, and those we will talk about honestly.
Can you clear drains in a manufactured home or a lake cabin?
Yes. Both have quirks worth knowing about. Manufactured homes often have long, shallow drain runs under the floor that sag over time and hold water, and a cabin that sits empty gets dry traps and sewer smell that are not a clog at all. We would rather find the real cause than cable a line for nothing.
